How to get to the island of Elba
During the summer season car ferries leave from Piombino to Portoferraio - main Elba Island town - almost hourly. There are also daily ferries from Cavo and Rio Marina. The shipping companies are Toremar, Moby Lines, Blu Navy and Corsica Ferries.
The crossing from Piombino to Portoferraio takes one hour, the crossing from Piombino to Cavo takes 35 minutes, to Rio Marina takes 45 minutes.

By air to Elba
Marina di Campo Airport on the Island of Elba (tel. 05188.8.131.52) is about two kilometres from Marina di Campo, in a place called La Pila; the airport is within easy reach of all parts of the island. For information and bookings, contact the airlines directly.

A coach service operates between Milan and other cities in Lombardy and Piombino. Tickets can be purchased from the company "Autostradale" in P.zza Castello in Milan (info and times: SISA tel. 0371.44.911).
FROM THE NORTH
Follow the A12 Genoa-Livorno motorway: exit at the Rosignano toll gate. Continue along the S.S. Aurelia to Venturina-Isola d' Elba and then for Piombino Marittima, following the signs for Elba and the ferry terminal.
FROM THE NORTH-EAST
Follow the A1 Bologna-Firenze-Pisa-Livorno motorway: exit at the Rosignano toll gate. Continue along the S.S. Aurelia to Venturina-Isola d' Elba and then for Piombino Marittima, following the signs for Elba and the ferry terminal.
Alternatively: follow the "S.G.C. Firenze-Pisa-Livorno" toll-free highway (known locally as the Fi-Pi-Li), exit at Firenze Signa and continue along the S.S. as far as Collesalvetti; return to the A12 motorway as far as Rosignano Marittimo, then the "Superstrada" to Venturina and then for Piombino Marittima.
FROM THE SOUTH
Follow the A12 Roma-Grosseto motorway: Continue along the S.S. Aurelia to Venturina-Isola d'Elba and then for Piombino Marittima, following the signs for Elba and the ferry terminal.
